Specsavers are the UK’s largest optical retail chain, operating in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the Nordic countries. 3Dctrl were tasked with digitising Specsavers’ entire past, present and future product libraries, converting 5000 SKU’s into textured 3D models. For each SKU, 3Dctrl developed an ‘automated e-commerce render and file bundle’ creating approximately 125,000 files for use across e-commerce, VTO, social and in-store.
For each SKU, 3Dctrl developed an ‘automated e-commerce render and file bundle’ creating approximately 125,000 files for use across e-commerce, VTO, social and in-store. Additionally, Specsavers were provided in-house access and creative control over their entire product range, via the 3Dctrl cloud content engine.
3Dctrl also developed ‘Face Framer’, a bespoke system that enables the automatic composition of high resolution 3D frames onto 2D photography, allowing images of models to be constantly re-purposed and updated with new products (saving time and costs by 80%).
“3Dctrl gives us the opportunity to render high-quality assets at speed and scale. We saw an uplift in product conversion that meant implementing their ‘Face Framer’ technology became a priority and now forms a key part of our product content assets.”
